 Always check your declarations 

The Unemployment Insurance Act says you must be unemployed for 14 days or longer, if you are going to be retrenched don't submit your claim when you receive your notice as per schedule 189 of the LRA, it’s not going to speed your claim up, the dates are conflicting on U filing. 

Your supporting documents must be correct, your salary schedule must be the same as on UFiling.    

Are you using the correct updated ID as per home affairs, if your banking details are different from home affairs records you must update your id and banking details?    

Don't apply for maternity benefits BEFORE you go on maternity leave wait for your baby to be born and then you apply.  It will safe you allot of frustration in the long run.    

What is the reason for termination of employment, you can’t claim if you resigned or absconded?    

If your employer entered the wrong code on your UI.19 your employer must fixed it, if your employer refuses you can open a case against your employer by completing a IES form, make sure you can proof dismissal.

It’s an offense in terms of section 56 of the Unemployment Insurance Act to provide incorrect information to DOL.

Remember to claim within the prescribed period of 12 month
