The UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) Capped Amount in South Africa refers to the maximum amount of money that an employee can receive from the UIF fund in the event of unemployment.
The current UIF Capped Amount is R17,712 per month, which means that if an employee earns more than this amount, they will only receive the maximum of R17,712 per month from the UIF fund
An employee may not receive more than 75% of their salary in order to qualify for maternity benefits, illness benefits and/or reduced working hours.
An employee's salary is calculated based on a capped amount of 75%.
This cap is in place to ensure that the UIF fund remains sustainable and can continue to provide support to all eligible employees who need it.
